NARRATIVE THERAPY

Narrative therapy supports individuals, families and couples with the belief that they are experts in their own lives and have many skills, abilities and values to draw upon to manage the difficulties that they are faced with.   This highly respectful form of therapy has been shown to be effective with children, teenagers and adults, as well as families facing a variety of challenges including:  Grief and loss, anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, and trauma.

TRAUMA THERAPY

The treatment of trauma can include a number of treatment modalities such as: Attachment-focussed therapy, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Cognitive Processing Therapy.  We will work together to determine the best fit for you. The initial goal of trauma therapy is to develop skills and strategies to manage the impacts of trauma and regain a sense of safety.

If you are feeling stuck, lost, or overwhelmed, counselling is a good place to start. Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, the impacts of trauma, or relationship challenges, counselling offers real support and fosters real change. 

My aim is to provide a safe, validating, and confidential space to explore the challenges and stressors that are getting in the way of your wellness and your relationships.  Most importantly, counselling will help you identify the concrete tools and strategies that work best for your to increase your resilience and move forward in the direction you choose.

  • Services are also available virtually by video-conferencing or telephone to all Ontario and Newfoundland and Labrador Residents.

COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a solution focussed therapy that highlights the connections between thoughts, emotions, behaviours and physical sensations.   It is an evidenced based treatment for a wide range of difficulties including: depression, anxiety, insomnia, addiction, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, and chronic pain, among others.

MINDFULNESS-BASED THERAPY

Mindfulness-based therapy is an evidenced based treatment that supports individuals to develop skills to increase their present moment awareness.  It has been shown to reduce the impacts of stress, depression, anxiety, and other life challenges.
